Quality engineering / Process capability

Know whether your process actually fits the specification.

The Mechatrovich Cpk Dashboard turns measurement data into an understandable capability assessment—without sending production files to a server.

01 / The problem

Passing inspection does not automatically mean the process is capable.

A batch can contain no rejected parts and still operate dangerously close to a specification limit. Pass/fail inspection describes the samples already measured. Capability analysis estimates how the process variation and centering relate to the available tolerance.

The practical question: Is the process spread comfortably inside the specification—and is the mean centered well enough to protect both sides?
01Enter measurementsUse a small manual sample here or import production data in the complete product.
02Set specificationsEnter the engineering LSL and USL for the measured characteristic.
03Read the riskCompare overall potential with the side that currently limits capability.
02 / Method

Cp measures potential. Cpk also considers centering.

Cp compares total specification width with the estimated process spread. Cpk separately checks the distance from the process mean to each specification limit, then reports the weaker side.

Cp = (USL − LSL) / 6sPotential capability if the process is centered.
Cpk = min(CPU, CPL)Actual capability based on the nearest specification side.

That is why a process can have a good Cp but a poor Cpk: the variation may be small enough, while the process mean is shifted toward one limit.

03 / Working trial

Test a small measurement set.

This limited version performs the actual sample-standard-deviation, Cp, CPL, CPU and Cpk calculations. Input size is limited; the engineering explanation is not.

What this result means

Run the calculator to generate an interpretation.

Preview calculations are for product evaluation. Confirm production decisions against your organization’s approved quality procedures and required capability criteria.

04 / Interpretation

Read Cpk as a signal, not as a universal approval stamp.

< 1.00The estimated process spread extends beyond at least one specification side.
1.00–1.32The process may fit, but has limited protection against normal movement or variation.
≥ 1.33A common minimum target for an established process, subject to customer requirements.

Some customers, safety characteristics and new-process approvals require higher values such as 1.67 or 2.00. The dashboard explains the calculation; your control plan defines the acceptance requirement.

05 / Complete product

Move from a small check to a repeatable production workflow.

The full dashboard keeps data preparation, capability calculations, distribution views, NG identification and reporting in one offline workspace.

07 / What you receive

Everything needed to start a complete capability review.

The Process Capability Analysis Toolkit is delivered as a complete offline package rather than a subscription or hosted service.

01Offline HTML toolkitImport CSV files, select numeric dimensions, enter specifications and review the results locally in your browser.
02Sample CSVOpen a prepared dataset first so you can understand the workflow before using production measurements.
03Quick-start guideFollow the package setup, data-import and first-analysis steps without needing a separate installation.
04Interpretation referenceUse the capability guide and README to understand Cp, Cpk, specifications, charts and practical limitations.
Your data stays with you: the toolkit runs offline in your browser and does not send production measurements to Mechatrovich or another analysis server.
